Avoid ‘there’s a stain on your pants’ — and other awkward conversations

Thanks to a new site, giving constructive criticism to a co-worker has never been easier.
Have a fellow worker that needs to buy looser clothing? Does someone with coffee breath always want to have an in-depth, personal conversation? Erik Riesenberg, creator of NiceCritic, has a solution for you.
After a friend informed him he had embarrassingly long nose hairs, Riesenberg decided there needed to be a better way to hold sensitive conversations. He soon came up with his site, which can send criticisms anonymously. (Bonus: The service is free.)
Riesenberg says the messages are polite because they remove awkwardness from person-to-person confrontations. The site even offers a section where users can send compliments anonymously.
Most of the messages are critical:
- “A breath mint would be beneficial today”
- “You seem to have over-applied your make-up this morning,” and
- “Stories about your vacation are not as interesting as you think they are.”
But, there are also some compliments and suggestions that seem downright creepy:
- “The weight gain really makes you look healthy”
- “It seems like your thong is showing,” and
- “You don’t release your hug in a timely manner.”
