Do your co-workers like sci-fi? Then don’t drive with them

The morning commute can be hectic enough — but when employees start watching movies on the road, it can be a costly error for your company.
Apparently, former truck driver Benjamin Trotman never learned that lesson. As he made his way up Britain’s M6 highway, Trotman repeatedly swerved in between lanes while erratically speeding up and slowing down. After another trucker on the highway noticed the dangerous driving, he pulled up next to Trotman’s truck cabin and noticed a distinct blue glow from inside. Realizing it was a TV screen, the passing driver called the police.
Traffic policeman Sgt. Paul Brown pulled Trotman over after seeing his vehicle veer across the road, and the officer discovered Trotman had good reason for being so distracted: He was watching the sci-fi show “Battlestar Galactica” on a laptop.
Court magistrates suspended Trotman’s license for 15 months and gave him 225 hours community service, on top of a $942 fine.
The bright side: He’ll have plenty of time to catch up on his favorite sci-fi shows now that he’s unemployed and off the road.
