Troubling times have had an impact on just about everyone. Just ask these online psychics, for whom business has never been better.
Internet mediums, online practitioners of the divination arts, digital empaths — no matter what you call them, they’re making a killing amid U.S. and world economic turmoil.
Katrina Spears, a psychic who gives online readings via instant message or IM, has seen more anxious customers ask what’s in store for the months ahead. She charges $2 to $3 per minute for the sessions, and says she’s talking almost exclusively with Americans upset by their economic situation.
Another IM reader who goes by the moniker “Pure Empathy” says, “it’s really starting to pick up — people are more depressed, and I can easily make $150 to $200 an hour.”
Amaya Elliot, another psychic, defends her profession by doling out common sense along with her mystic knowledge: “I make sure sure to tell them to not quit a job that is a sure pay until another job is secured, and to make sure to use a budget and stick to it as best they can.”
“I also remind them that readings are entertainment and not a necessity,” added Elliot.
