If you’re planning to rob your place of employment, it’s probably a good idea not to call out sick a few hours before.

Clearwater, FL, officials say a nurse who called out sick from his job at Highland Pines Nursing Home arrived at the facility later in the day — wearing a ski mask.

Michael Villafana, a licensed practical nurse at the home, used his employee access code to get in and out of the building, so detectives had little trouble figuring out who the masked robber was. In addition to the ski mask, Villafana also carried a 9mm pistol.

Police say he cornered a staff member with the handgun and demanded narcotics. Once he was apprehended, police recovered several narcotics from Villafana, including morphine, hydrocodone, methadone, lorazepam and oxycodone.

Police believe Villafana’s robbery may have to do with a possible addiction to pain medication.
