Fed up with the current gas prices, members of Maryland’s Truckers and Citizens United decided to stage a rally in Capitol Hill to voice their concerns. The organizers expected nearly 200 truckers to show their support for the cause, but were flabbergasted when fewer than 20 people actually showed up.

But neither bumper-to-bumper traffic nor torrential downpour ruined this parade: The rally consisted of truckers driving their tractor trailers from Maryland to Washington, D.C., with cardboard signs reading: “America is going broke because of oil.”

After the rally, the organizers admitted the expensive cost of travel for a fleet of tractor trailers probably resulted in the less-than-stellar protest turnout.
