Tech vending machines — landing soon in airports

Combine the convenience of a big-box retailer with the impulsiveness of a vending machine, and you’ve got a sure-fire fail on your hands.
It’s up to frequent travelers to decide, but Best Buy’s latest foray into the “tech-user-on-the-go” niche doesn’t seem like it’s going to take off. It’ll be installing branded vending machines in airports nationwide, chock-full of over-priced gadgets.
The company reports that items like cell phone and headphones will be featured in the vending machines, and other products like travel chargers and adapters will also be available.
It’ll be just like the candy machine already in your office — but instead of losing your dollar and your Snickers bar, it’ll be an iPhone that gets caught in the metal coil. (Good luck not shaking the machine uncontrollably when there’s a $200 gadget at stake.)
The machines have been in most major airports since September 1. Although Best Buy eventually plans to roll out the program in all airports, the first eight lucky airports are: Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Minneapolis and San Fransisco.
