You’ve won … your very own waste plant!

Going once, going twice, sold! Your company’s just bought the rights to name a sewage plant.
When Florida’s Webber International University was unable to find an underwriter for its $750,000 sewage treatment plant, it turned to eBay to find a potential funder for the new building. A ten-day auction and $6,100 later, T. Wayne Hill Trucking, Inc., of Bartow is the lucky winner of a soon-to-be-completed waste center.
Even though T. Wayne’s winning bid is far short of meeting the cost of the plant, the university still says it’s a great match. T. Wayne specializes in sludge and waste hauling, and its logo of a smiley face pinching its nose will be a good fit for the sewage plant.
The opening ceremony for the “T. Wayne Hill Trucking, Inc. Bio-Solids Management Wastewater Treatment Plant” is slated for early ’09, but Webber’s president, H. Keith Wade, isn’t sure how the turnout will be.
“I don’t think many people have much experience with a ceremony naming a sewage treatment plant,” said Wade. “I don’t know who would come, but we are going to do something.”
